ABOUT

GABZ

Gabrielle Owens Thorndyke

is a multi-disciplinary visual and sound artist working across music, media, restoration, and creative technology. Her work is rooted in a deep fascination with light, sound, cultural memory, and the ways people preserve and share their stories.

Drawing from backgrounds in audio production, visual media, performance, restoration, and archival work, she combines technical skill with an artist’s eye for atmosphere, texture, and emotional impact.

Extensive travel and exposure to different cultures continue to shape both her creative process and her perspective on storytelling, heritage, and human connection.

She works comfortably across both creative and technical environments, combining hands-on production experience with systems-oriented media, performance and archival workflows

A Note From Gabz:
I explore media, memory, sound, culture through multiple disciplines.

My background in performance and radio shaped the way I think about communication, storytelling, and audience connection.

Across photography, graphic design, and mixed-media work, I’m drawn by the emotional weight carried by images and objects. Using light, atmosphere, color and historical technique, I develop images that tell a story.

My sound work ranges from music production and restoration to archival preservation, sound design, and oral history storytelling.

My preservation work focuses on protecting vulnerable media and helping individuals, families, and organizations reconnect with their history
