ABOUT
GABZ

I'm an artist, maker, audiovisual engineer, preservationist, musician—and a few other things that don't fit neatly on a business card.
This is my professional portfolio. I've done a lot, so look around, follow whatever catches your attention, and enjoy the journey. If you'd like to connect, hit the Contact button. I'd love to hear from you.
The Obligatory Biographical Artist Statement:
If you've perused this entire portfolio (or even if you haven't), you'll have noted I haven't stuck to a single discipline and made a career of it.
Or have I?
Jobs and opportunities come and go, fortunes change, and there is simply too much to learn, see, and experience.
This portfolio reflects a life shaped by those changes, and by my experiences as a Gen Jones American expat, creative technician, and artist.
What's the unifying thread?
Observation, curiosity, and wonder.
I'm fortunate to have lived in many countries and cultures, experienced all sorts of climates, and had parents who encouraged exploration and education in equal measure.
I pay attention to vibration, light, and sound, and how they change with heat or cold, humidity, weather—even the angle of the sun.
I examine how color and mood intersect, and how our environment affects what we create, feel, and experience.
The emotional weight carried by images, sounds, objects, and history informs the work I do. Whether I'm editing sound or video, writing music, rescuing old media, or creating new art, I hope to spark a moment of recognition in my audience: that instant when we stop, point to something, and say, "LOOK at this! Isn't it amazing?"
